    A public company is any company available for public use, like libraries or schools. A company on the Australian Stock Exchange – AMP or BHP Billiton. Directors are senior staff members of the company – they make huge decisions. Shareholders are anyone with an interest in the company. For schools, for example, shareholders would be parents, students, staff, and the local milk bar/newsagency where everybody buys food and stuff at lunch. That’s just the rough thought. I hope it helps!
