Yes, you undoubtedly can. Things to watch out for include what parts of the house and which appliances can you use, who is responsible for upkeep, cleaning and so on, when is the rent due, what happens if you pay the other and he doesn’t pay the landlord, is the other person trustworthy?

Your primary concern at this time in your life should be getting into the best college you can get into and who you will share a dorm with.
Failure on your part to complete your education you should become familiar with the following phrases. "Do you want fries with that order?" "Attention Wal-Mart customers"
The real world is more than just being on your own because you would want to rebel against your parents, as every generation do. Those that cope to obtain the necessary means to fend for themselves, get the proper education normally find that they earn more over a lifetime, have a better more rewarding life and is able to provide for their potential family, so their kids can rebel against them.
The questions you are asking about microwaves, TV would normally be provided in a furnished apartment, but, those are hard to find and normally cost more than an unfurnished apartment.
In most apartments you would be required to pay the utilities such as gas, water, electric, cable TV services and such.
Now the kicker is that in most parts of the United States a landlord may not legally rent to someone below the age of 18 years. In order to qualify for an apartment you also must be able to prove steady employment.
Depending on what part of the United States you are currently residing in an $8.00 per hour job would not be sufficient to qualify you for a rental property.
I hope this has been of some benefit to you, excellent luck.

At 17, you cannot legally enter into a lease (contract), b/c you are a minor.
