Detailed Stock Charts help make Daily Stocks the premier finance iPad app available

Daily Stock’s advanced software architecture computes trends in the Stock Exchange into data that can be understood by anyone, independent of experience. It replaces the inadequate stock software by filtering price and patterns on stock for further research.

Daily Stocks scans the S&P 500 Index, matches data with daily candlestick patterns to identify the safest picks and also uses the SMA spreads to highlight stocks that are oversold or overbought.

“Daily Stocks is the ultimate trading iPad app for S&P 500. The beauty is in its intelligence and simplicity; it tells you when stock is ripe for trading, and whether to go long or short,” says Alp Simsir, managing director at missingSTEP.

The Daily Stocks App marks missingSTEP’s first app on the popular iPad.
London, UK — November 16, 2002 — Uniastrum Capital Limited, a successful futures fund manager, announced the release of the new version of the simulation model of the S&P 500 market called DOLPHIN-2.

The software is used by the company to optimize trading parameters, and manage risks.

This model proved to be highly successful in the last four months, when the fund, managed by the company, gained over 12 percent after fees.

Mr. George Piskov, the CEO of the company, explained that the new, improved and more user-friendly interface allows users to analyze various trading strategies in minutes, using different data sets and time periods. The new optimization module also automates the process of finding the most efficient set of trading parameters using the risk/reward criterion.

Although the software is not currently available for distribution, the demonstration can be arranged for qualified investors or professionals at Uniastrum Capital office in Canary Wharf, London.

(Vocus/PRWEB ) May 20, 2009 — Ten years ago, Asian equities paid pitifully low dividends following the bull market in the late 1990s. But according to Sovereign Society, Investment Director, Eric Roseman, that’s all starting to change as many markets in the region now offer higher dividend payouts than the S&P 500 and many European equity markets…

Currently, the FTSE Asia-Pacific Large-Cap Index (excluding Japan) yields 3.8% while the Tokyo Nikkei yields 2.7%. Both sectors yield more than local government bond markets.

The S&P 500 Index currently yields 3% or slightly below the yield on benchmark ten-year Treasury bonds.

Some world-class companies in Japan continue to pay attractive dividends, including Canon (3.4%), Nintendo (5.5%), Nippon Oil (3.6%) and Takeda Pharmaceuticals (4.8%).

“What’s truly amazing is how for many decades the United States continued to raise dividend payouts while emerging markets paid little or nothing to shareholders. Now that trend is changing amid the worst credit deflation in 75 years… as banks and other companies chop or eliminate dividends to conserve cash,” Roseman says.

Dividends in the MSCI Asia Pacific Index are derived from companies in 14 countries with the top ten dividend-paying stocks accounting for about 20% of total dividends paid. In contrast, the top ten dividend stocks in the S&P 500 Index accounted for almost 33% of all dividends paid by that index in 2007.

According to research compiled by the Matthews Asia Pacific Equity Income Fund, between 2002 and 2007 dividends paid by the constituents in the MSCI Asia Pacific Index grew at a compounded annualized rate of 24% compared with 10% for the S&P 500 Index. That trend is accelerating since 2008 as Asian stocks maintain or boost payouts while American companies reduce or eliminate them altogether.

“At some point in the future, it’s inevitable that currencies in Asia will be revalued vis-à-vis the American dollar. That makes dividend investing in the Pacific even more compelling as the total return equation grows more rewarding for long-term investors,” Roseman says.

Wellesley, MA (PRWEB) March 3, 2010 — Phil Fragasso, author of Your Nest Egg Game Plan (Career Press, 2009) and the web site www.HardWorkingMoney.com, announced the release of a new educational video, “How To Beat the S&P 500.”

It Wasy Easy to Beat the S&P

“Everyone is fixated on outperforming the S&P 500,” explains Fragasso, “and that fixation is making them lose time, money, and sleep. In reality, it’s pretty much impossible to outperform the S&P 500 consistently whether you’re using mutual funds, picking stocks, or trying to time the market. Unless, of course, you use my method.”

In the video, Fragasso compares investing to playing LeBron James in a game of one-on-one. Playing LeBron in a game of basketball and expecting to win would be delusional, but engaging him in a game of chess or lawn darts dramatically levels the playing field and greatly increases the chances of winning. It’s the same way with investing.

“The best way to beat the S&P 500,” Fragasso explains, “is to invest in an asset class that beats the S&P 500. And over the last ten years, a wide variety of asset classes — ranging from boring old U.S. bonds to natural resources, real estate, and emerging market bonds — have done just that.”

Essentially, as this table shows, investors could have parked their money most anywhere and outperformed the S&P 500 for the 10-year period ended January 31, 2010.

10-Year Index Performance as of 1/31/2010
Emerging Market Bonds – 10.73%
US Real Estate — 9.77%
Emerging Market Stocks – 9.42%
Natural Resources — 8.94%
US High-Yield Bonds — 6.87%
US Intermediate Bonds — 6.53%
US. Small-Cap Stocks — 3.29%
International Stocks — 1.63%
S&P 500 — 0.80%

The point, of course, is not to avoid investing in the S&P 500 because it could very well be the top-performing asset class for the 10-year period ending in January 2020. Rather, investors should strive to build a well-diversified portfolio with asset classes that zig when others zag.

“The key takeaway,” explains Fragasso, “is that people need to remember and appreciate that they worked hard to earn their money and they should make sure it’s working just as hard for them.”

After 25 years as a senior executive in the financial services industry — and disliking much of what he saw — Phil Fragasso left the corporate world to focus on consumer advocacy for individual investors. Phil believes that the traditional approach to distributing investment products and advice is seriously flawed and needs change.

For investors desiring high returns with reduced risk in their 401(k) and IRA portfolios, a new book on personal investing titled “The Wall Street Traffic Light” describes a powerful and simple investment strategy.

Tulsa, OK (PRWEB) — For investors desiring high returns with reduced risk in their 401(k) and IRA portfolios, a new book on personal investing titled “The Wall Street Traffic Light” describes a powerful and simple investment strategy.

“I wrote this book to help de-mystify the stock market for 401(k) and IRA investors and give them peace of mind with their investment decisions,” author John K. Harris said. “This book focuses on relevant history of the S&P 500, which accounts for 75 percent of the value of the U.S. stock market.”

Harris, a former professor and CPA with a Ph.D. in accounting, was inspired to write the book in 1996 when his wife’s friend asked him a simple question: “Is now a good time to sell my 401(k) stock funds?”

For an answer, Harris developed an investment strategy that offers the potential for 401(k) and IRA investors to achieve higher returns while reducing risk compared to the widely recommended investment strategy of buying-and-holding an S&P 500 index fund. This strategy is easy for even novice investors to use, has minimal costs and requires little time.

“The Wall Street Traffic Light” disputes the conventional view that the S&P 500 moves unpredictably from year to year. According to Harris, the S&P 500 has actually been predictable with a high accuracy rate over short-term periods.

The Wall Street Traffic Light strategy is based on the S&P 500′s annual returns and short-term movements from 1935-1969. Harris then tested his model against data from 1970-2006.

According to Harris, for 1970-2006, the WSTL strategy achieved nearly a 3 percent higher average annual rate of return with considerably lower risk compared to buying-and-holding the S&P 500. This performance was accomplished with only 13 trades out of and back into the S&P 500.

Of his model’s 37 yearly forecasts during 1970-2006, 29 were accurate: an accuracy rate of 78.4 percent. Six of the inaccurate forecasts resulted in exactly the same performance for the WSTL investor and the buy-and-hold investor.

“That makes the ‘acid test’ accuracy rate 94.6 percent,” said Harris.

“People make their investment decisions in various ways,” said Srikant M. Datar, senior associate dean of Harvard Business School. “Some favor looking at history. If you like that approach, you should consider the Wall Street Traffic Light strategy set forth in this book. Using the annual returns and short-term movements of the S&P 500 Index for more than seven decades, Dr. Harris presents practical ‘stop and go’ signals that can be easily understood and implemented by investors.”

Join Harris will be at a book signing on March 30 (1:00-3:00 pm) at Steve’s Sundry, Books & Magazines in Tulsa, Okla.

Dallas/Fort Worth, TX (PRWEB) – RD Woodyard Inc. announced today that its weekly Woodyard Report (TM) has now outperformed the trailing 12-month S&P 500 week after week for more than a year.

Comparisons to the S&P 500 show how well The Woodyard Report(TM) has been performing. In the past year (7/11/03-7/09/04), the S&P 500 has gained 11.49% while The Woodyard Report(TM) is up 18.71%. A 3-Year to date comparison (9/28/01-7/09/04) shows the S&P 500 up 6.90% while The Woodyard Report(TM) has gained a staggering 44.78%.

“The results say it all,” says David Woodyard, founder of RD Woodyard Inc. “We set out to produce a weekly report that would narrow the field from thousands of investment options to just a few that have the potential to grow at least 15% annually. Our success has been confirmed by the performance of the stocks we have listed.”

The secret behind the success in the preparation of The Woodyard Report(TM) is in the utilization of the powerful StockSelector(TM) program developed by Woodyard. The life-long investor and self-professed “math geek” created this proprietary program by combining his passion for investing with his love for numbers. Each week the StockSelector(TM) program identifies a handful of undervalued stocks by gathering and analyzing more than a half a million financial data points.

“I was looking for a shortcut to identify the best investment options for my own portfolio,” Woodyard says. “It became apparent that I had stumbled onto something big when I started to see the results- especially over the long term.”

It was those results that prompted Woodyard’s friends and associates to persuade him to make his weekly report available to others. In fact, it was Woodyard’s personal CPA who became the first subscriber to The Woodyard Report(TM).

The Woodyard Report(TM) is a weekly newsletter available to individuals and businesses by subscription only. Further information can be found at http://www.rdwoodyard.com

New York (PRWEB) July 28, 2008 — WealthNotes Capital Management, LLC (www.wealth-notes.com) of Westport, Connecticut announced its entry into the fast-growing Exchange Traded Notes (ETNs) space with the filing of its first security, an ETN tracking the performance of the S&P 500 130/30 Total Return Strategy Index. WealthNotes’ ETN will trade on NYSE Arca under ticker symbol WNF.

ETNs are debt securities that have similarities to Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs), as both are linked to the performance of reference indices and are traded on major U.S. exchanges. Under most market conditions, however, ETNs offer no tracking error of the reference indices.

WealthNotes is the first independent platform in North America’s rapidly growing ETN industry. The WealthNotes ETN will be issued by Norway’s Eksportfinans, which is rated AAA by Fitch, Aaa by Moody’s (negative outlook) and AA+ by Standard & Poor’s Ratings Services.

“The S&P 500 130/30 Total Return Strategy Index is a highly sought-after strategy that can most effectively be brought to investors through exchange-traded notes,” said Keith Styrcula, CEO of WealthNotes Capital Management. “We’re excited and greatly appreciative that a world-class team of global financial partners has been able to bring this highly anticipated index-linked strategy to investors through our highly-rated issuing partner, Eksportfinans.”

“We expect the launch of this compelling investment will add to the ascendancy of the ETN industry, and the highly positive efficiencies ETNs bring to investors both large and small,” Styrcula added.

Tim Eisenhauer, Vice President of Standard & Poor’s Index Services said, “The S&P 500 130/30 Strategy Total Return Index was designed based in response to market demand for an investment strategy that establishes 30% over- and underweight positions relative to the S&P 500. As a first offering by an index provider in the fast-growing 0 billion 130/30 strategy space, the S&P 500 130/30 Strategy Index is a framework that provides risk-controlled, long/short exposure with the prospect of outperformance in a transparent, cost-efficient format.”

The NYSE Arca will trade the WealthNotes ETNs linked to the S&P 500 130/30 Strategy Total Return Index under the ticker symbol WNF. For more information on WealthNotes, please visit www.wealth-notes.com.

“Standard & Poor’s”, “S&P,” “S&P 500″ and “Standard & Poor’s 500″ are trademarks of The McGraw-Hill Companies, Inc. The WealthNotes ETNs linked to the performance of the Standard & Poor’s S&P 500 130/30 Strategy Index are not sponsored, endorsed, sold or promoted by The McGraw-Hill Companies, Inc., and The McGraw-Hill Companies, Inc. makes no representation regarding the advisability of investing in the ETNs.

Equity Index Annuities issued by top insurance companies mislead consumers into believing that they will actually earn returns equal to the S&P 500 Index.

Equity Index Annuities (EIA’s) in theory are wonderful investments for consumers. Unfortuanately, the actual contracts issued by the insurance companies are as difficult to understand as microphysics.

Since the late 1990′s, when EIA’s were first introduced, the concept of crediting a customer’s account with the gains of the S&P 500 (minus a small fee), without experiencing any of the losses has attracted Billions of dollars each year.

The marketing brochures, company recruiters, and agents have sold these contracts as if the consumer is guaranteed to earn all of the gains from the S&P 500 index. This is only the case with three products in the industry.

The most unfortunate situation has occurred, the top selling companies are paying the highest commissions to the agents, but are not guaranteeing that the fee charged by the insurance company will remain the same for the entire surrender charge period. As a result, insurance companies are left in the position to increase the fees to the point that the consumer will never recieve any gains from the S&P 500 index.

In addition to fluctuating fees, the three other concerns that are become more present are the calculation of the S&P 500 Index, the presence of lifetime surrender charges and the minimum guarantees being as low as 1% or less!
