Tragedy :(?

I know it’s been a while but does anyone else cringe when you walk past the ancient Gowings store in George street and see that it’s now a Supre? What a fantastic store Gowings was. 3 generations of the men in my family used to go to the barber shop there. I remember watching the news on its last day of trading and seeing men queued up around the block to get one final haircut at that barber shop. Anyone else have a tale to tell about this fantastic store?

YES! And the Supre’s terrible, as you go up each floor the amount of money spent on interior design gets less and less until when you’re on the top and everything is in boxes and the wiring exposed.
I miss Gowings.

Wow, I didn’t know it had gone – and to be replaced by Supre of all things! I haven’t been to Sydney for about 4 yrs but used to live there and have fond memeories of walking past Gowings and looking at the window displays.
