Are you referring to the Standard and Poor’s site? http://www.standardandpoors.com
It’s an indice made up of 200 Australian stocks listed on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) chose by the Standard and Poor’s company.
(Standard meaning standard statistic, and Poor’s meaning Henry Varnum Poor’s, founder of the company in 1860)
ASX 200 list: http://www2.standardandpoors.com/portal/site/sp/en/au/page.topic/indices_asx200/2,3,2,8,0,0,0,0,0,2,3,0,0,0,0,0.html

About every 3 months some stocks listed on the index may be removed and replaced with other stocks at the companies (S&P’s) discretion.

The S&P / ASX 200 index’s is recognised as the inevitable benchmark for the Australian equity market.
It addresses the needs of investment managers to benchmark against a portfolio characterised by sufficient size and liquidity.
