whats the day-to-day life in the ADF (army in particular)?

Ive just turned 17 and interested in joining the army to get a trade and start a career. next monday im going to do the YOU session at Parramatta and get things going, but what i really need is some unbiased information from someone who has been in the army for at least few years and just want to know whats it like living in the army comparing it to living with mum and dad comfortably?
