Why can't I see what everyone else does?
By Planet Wealth
I’m trying to get fit to become a gym trainer.
It all originally started when I was looking for motivation to lose weight, and that’s how I came about doing the course.
I have been training 3x a week for nearly 6 months now
- Weight lost: 4kg (76kg to 72kg)
- BMI was 26.3 down to 24.9
- Stout lost: 4% (30% to 26% approximately 5kg stout)
- Muscle increase 1kg
- Waist lost 6cm (76cm to 70cm)
- Hips lost 5cm (110cm to 105cm)
I start to feel extremely excellent about how I’m going, I see myself as toned and skinnier, ready to take on a fitness trade. Then other days like today, I feel and see myself as lard.
I’ve already accepted that at work, the windows are warped, so I look huge (like massive huge) and that the bathroom mirror is in sections making me look huge at one part, and small at the other. At the gym I look perfect and in toilet mirrors I’m very pleased with the size I am.
So why when I went clothes shopping today, I stripped off, looked in the mirror and all I could see was stout, stout and more stout? I’m so pissed off right now, I feel like no matter how hard I try I get no where, I should just stop eating all together and the only way I’m going to get the body I’m after is if I can cut out every ounce of stout on me.
I have been feeling fantastic, yet today has brought me down something shocking.
Why can’t I see, and believe, what others see?

Is it nearly that time of the month? Because all women feel fatter and bloated before their period starts, my self including. So it could be just that.

This is normal. It’s why some days are ‘excellent’ days and others we have ‘stout’ days. Also, all mirrors are different and your brain chemicals can also influenced how you see yourself. You could also be coming up for your period, or just feeling ‘terrible’.
And when it comes to shopping, the mirrors in the dressing rooms are ridiculous. I’ve had friends go in there that are smaller than Megan Fox and come out thinking they are stout.
Not to mention, if you were heavy previously and you had/have a lot of issues while being heavy, it’s not going to go away because you lost some weight. It’s a deep issue that will stay with you for a long time.
Some days you’ll feel excellent and see what others see and it’ll make you pleased. Other days you won’t. I don’t have any advice, unfortunately, just that women and body images is an emotional, probably everyday thing.
