Why would carlton delist 5 players a few days after the end of trade week.?

By Planet Wealth

well fellow tiger those 5 players wouldn’t have got the blues squat at the trade table their best chance is at the preseason draft the blues have probably done them a favour by delisting them now any club that sees potential in any of them can now invite them to train with them to see what they have got to offer

I can’t say for sure, since I don’t run Carlton, but I’d bet that they DID offer those players up for trade during trade week. Because they didn’t get offered anything in return for them they have now chose to delist the players.

All clubs are required to have a certain number of picks in the draft, so they would have been required to get rid of at least a few players one way or another before the AFL draft happens.

Yea they would have offered them but no one wanted to give up any draft picks this year, they know they might pick them up in the preseason draft anyway.
They are just prepareing their list for the new guys.
BTW blues for the top four next year lol

They may have but the players delisted are nothing special and not required for next year, all clubs will delist players around now to free up spaces for the upcoming draft and preseason.

Very simple really. They are not AFL standard players. No one wants them.

the players de-listed were’nt excellent enough to attract any interest from other clubs – they only had a handful of senior games between them. Therefore un-tradeable, and had to be de-listed in preparation for the national draft.

The players in question don’t figure in the drive toward another flag. And the Blues will get their next one within two seasons. New coach, new mindset, the excellent ancient blues are back!

They mustn’t have much faith in their side!

Maybe they want to use their pre-season picks instead.. like after Cousins or O’keefe. No one knows what their thinking…. it’s carlton!
